« Rare » est la première compilation des Rebels of Tijuana. Elle regroupe des titres enregistrés entre 2011 & 2016 dans différents studios, dans différentes ambiances et pour différents projets. Entre Lyon (Back to Mono, Mikrokosm, la Triperie) et Genève (FBI), certains sont apparus sur des compilations, comme "1966 Back in South of Nowhere" ou French Tribute to Jay Retard, d’autres sont restés sur disque dur et présentés pour la première fois ici.
Il y a du Français, de l’Anglais, du chanté et de l’instrumental, des influences des Beatles, Rolling Stones, le Floyd de Syd Barrett, Gainsbourg ou Nino Ferrer, du propre et du sale, du grave et du léger, de l’absurde, du concret, en fait tout ce qui touche le groupe, toutes ses influences et ses expériences qui rend leur style si riche, si bizarre, si varié, si indéfinissable. »
